Intention

The intention for this retreat is Relax & Reset. In light of recent global and national events, many of us have been feeling on edge and disconnected from our usual routines. Unfortunately, mental disorders are becoming increasingly prevalent, even among young people, largely due to the pervasive anxiety that disrupts our sleep and undermines our mental wellbeing.

As we prepare to enter the Kapha season and winter draws near, it is more important than ever to nourish our internal systems and find balance. Kapha season is a time to slow down, breathe deeply, and appreciate the beauty of nature as it withdraws and becomes dormant. The stillness in the air invites us to redirect our energies and embrace a sense of calm.

The serene and peaceful environment of this retreat will serve as the perfect antidote to the fast-paced mobility of fall. We will explore various methods to cultivate a light heart and a sharp sense of purpose, and counter the impending cold weather with warmth and connection. There will be ample opportunities for fun and laughter, as well as quiet reflection and meaningful socialization. This retreat offers a chance to reset, recharge, and realign with our best selves during this crucial time of the year.

Our retreat accommodations are thoughtfully designed by the renowned architecture firm GWWO, with a focus on aligning with our body's natural rhythms. This thoughtful design will help us to re-establish our circadian rhythms and enjoy a better night's sleep. In addition to our usual selection of Vinyasa and Yin classes, we are excited to offer tailored Yoga Nidra classes that will perfectly complement our goal of relaxation and resetting our circadian rhythms.

Not only is Yoga Nidra a deeply restorative and rejuvenating experience, but it is also an ideal complement to the optimal light exposure provided by our expertly designed accommodations. We are committed to offering a holistic approach to wellness, and our accommodations and classes are carefully crafted to ensure that our guests leave feeling refreshed and revitalized. This is because a healthy sleep cycle depends upon three things:

1. Resetting our circadian rhythms with the sun: The human species was meant to work in sync with the rising and setting of the sun. This is a topic that is trending broadly in the media right now, and with good reason. Getting exposure to natural light a few minutes after waking every morning wakes up your circadian clock and tells your brain it is time to be alert and focused. It also signals the brain to know when to fall asleep that evening.

2. Yoga Nidra: Yoga Nidra mimics the sleep process and creates its own positive effects. Yoga Nidra has been scientifically shown to increase melatonin production and slow its breakdown. Thus, in the period of sleep following a Yoga Nidra session, the melatonin released will help you not only fall asleep, but stay asleep.

3. Optimal bedtime: Ayurveda recommends going to sleep by 10pm. This is because between 10pm and 2am is the most beneficial time for our nervous system to reap the benefits of a good night's sleep

Our retreat programming has been designed with these points in mind to help you truly Relax and Reset.

These formal sessions will be enhanced by the beauty of our surroundings. Being in nature will allow us to truly disconnect from the stresses of daily city and suburban life, allowing us to reset our psyches and relax our bodies and minds. Partaking in activities such as forest bathing, stargazing and fire gazing will allow us to truly unwind.
